Freddy Garcia, who hasn't pitched in the majors since June 2007 with the Phillies, will start against the Rangers on Wednesday. The Tigers signed him last month to a "tryout contract" after he spent much of the season getting back into pitching shape. He had surgery last year to repair his labrum and rotator cuff in his pitching shoulder, and no one signed him off the free-agent market at the beginning of the season.
