NEW YORK -- Ana Ivanovic recovered in a hurry Tuesday to avoid becoming the first top-seeded woman to lose in the first round at the U.S. Open, rallying past Vera Dushevina 6-1, 4-6, 6-4. Serena Williams launched her bid for a third U.S. Open title with a ruthless 6-1, 6-4 demolition of Ukraine's Kateryna Bondarenko in the first round.
