He did as I suggested and crawled his lure over the muddy bottom. It traveled maybe three feet before it happened — something picked up the plastic worm and started off with it. No thump-thump as when a bass hits; something just picked up Larry's worm matter-of-factly and swam away with it. The worm obviously belonged to that something the minute it picked it up.
