The tournament which counts Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Ernie Els, Tom Watson, Raymond Floyd, Jack Nicklaus, Sam Snead, Ben Hogan and, yes, Byron Nelson among the champions since its inception in 1944 is no longer a must-play on the PGA Tour schedule.
