INDIAN WELLS, Calif. -- Second-seeded Russian Svetlana Kuznetsova battled to a 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 victory over Slovakia's Dominika Cibulkova in the third round of the Pacific Life Open on Sunday. Much smoother progress was made by Australian Open champion Maria Sharapova, who eased into the fourth round by sweeping past Eleni Daniilidou of Greece 7-5, 6-3.
