LAROCHE TO HAVE SURGERY, GARCIAPARRA HURTS WRIST, (9:20 p.m. ET) Los Angeles Dodgers third baseman Andy LaRoche tore a ligament in his right thumb today and will need surgery that could sideline him for eight to 10 weeks. Nomar Garciaparra, competing with LaRoche for the starting job at third base, was hit by a pitch on his right wrist during the Dodgers' 6-4 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals.
