Hughes' 22 points help Miners get past Mustangs

EL PASO, Texas (AP) -- Jareica Hughes scored 22 points to help No. 19 UTEP extend its winning streak to 20 games with a 76-63 victory over SMU on Thursday night. Natasha Lacy added 21 points for UTEP (24-2, 15-0 Conference USA) and Timika Williams scored 12. Janielle Dodds scored 11 points to lead SMU (21-7, 11-4), which had its seven-game winning streak snapped. Hughes also had seven assists, four steals and was 11-of-13 from the foul line.
