Monday, February 25, 2008 SURPRISE, Ariz. -- The Texas Rangers hired former manager Jerry Narron as a consultant Monday. Narron managed the Rangers from May 2001 through the end of the 2002 season, when he was replaced by Buck Showalter. Most recently, he was manager of the Cincinnati Reds for two years before being fired in July. The 52-year-old Narron will be a scout and fill other roles in the baseball operations department.
