40-yard dash not the only important combine drill

While the 40-yard dash has long been the glamour event of the combine, its scouting value varies from position to position. When fans reference TE Vernon Davis' extraordinary combine showing in 2006 they do so by the 4.38-second 40 he ran, and while scouts were certainly impressed by that time Davis' results in the 20-yard split (2.52 seconds) and vertical jump (42 inches) carried more weight in NFL circles.
