Tuesday, February 19, 2008 Hall of Fame golfer Greg Norman has been named the Golf Writers Association of America's Charlie Bartlett Award winner. The award, named for the first secretary of the GWAA, is given to a professional golfer for his/her unselfish contributions to the betterment of society. The 53-year-old Norman, who owns two British Open titles and was ranked No. 1 in the world for 331 weeks, was praised for his work with causes such as Hurricane Katrina, Sept. 11 relief and cancer research.
