Big 12 signing day conversation

Sunday, February 3, 2008

It's time to talk Big 12 football again. Feb. 6 is national signing day, which means the future of your team's program is now.

Oklahoma's recruiting class is shining with three top 20 prospects. Leading the pack is Jermie Calhoun, a running back with great instincts and athletic ability ranked No. 7 in the ESPN 150. With Julio Jones (Foley, Ala.) a serious candidate to be a Sooner, Oklahoma could add to an impressive group.

Rival Texas looks to sign two wide receiver prospects in the ESPN 150 -- No. 16 D.J. Grant and No. 17 Dan Buckner. Texas rounds out their class with nine other prospects in ESPN's Top 150 class. Missouri should gain a strong prospect at quarterback in Blaine Gabbert. Native Nebraskan Baker Steinkuhler, an ESPN 150 prospect, should give his home state a tall, lean outside lineman. Another ESPN pick, Jon Major could give Colorado a beefy inside lineman who is comfortable sifting through traffic on the field. With an ESPN ranking of 116, Kye Staley is an explosive tailback looking to go to Oklahoma State.

What will the new recruits mean to Baylor, Colorado, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas, Texas A&M and Texas Tech?
