Saturday, January 12, 2008 BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) -- Jeff Allen hit a free throw with 12.4 seconds to play Saturday and Virginia Tech rallied to beat Maryland 67-66 in its ACC home opener. The Hokies (10-6, 1-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) trailed almost throughout. They rallied five times in the second half to get even, but not until Allen made the first of two free throws did they move ahead, and Maryland got only one more shot.
