On Monday night, the goalies had their way. The Rangers' Henrik Lundqvist had a shutout. The Hurricanes' Cam Ward had a shutout. So did Marty Turco (Stars) and Dany Sabourin (Penguins) and Cristobal Huet (Canadiens). In eight games, there were five shutouts. The star-studded research staff at ESPN (these guys and gals are good) say this was the second-highest ratio of shutouts to games played on a single day in league history.
