The jolting news came, as it always does with Priest Holmes, at the oddest time -- just before training camp, when all the buzz was over quarterback quandaries and an HBO miniseries and Larry Johnson's holdout. The Kansas City Chiefs' higher-ups hadn't heard from Holmes in two, maybe three months.
