No. 2 seed Ferrer advances at Swedish Open

BASTAD, Sweden -- David Ferrer beat Guillermo Garcia-Lopez 6-2, 6-1 on Tuesday in the first round of the Swedish Open. Mariano Zabaleta -- another former Swedish Open champion -- lost to Russian qualifier Yurik Schukin 6-1, 1-6, 7-5. Also, 2002 Australian Open champion Thomas Johansson beat Oscar Hernandez 6-4, 6-4, and Jonas Bjorkman beat Michal Przysiezny 5-7, 6-2, 6-4.
