INDIANAPOLIS -- Times change and traditions slowly fade, but the Indianapolis Motor Speedway rang in the month of May on Sunday as usual with opening day for the 91st running of the Indianapolis 500. IMS management stubbornly clings to the notion that a three-week buildup is necessary for The Greatest Spectacle in Racing.
