Special to ESPN Insider Friday, March 30, 2007 A daily glance inside the numbers from the world of sports: Bryant NBA • Kobe Bryant scored 53 points in the Lakers' overtime loss to the Rockets and finished the month of March with a scoring average of 40.4 points per game. Bryant is the only player in the last 40 years to average 40 points per game for an entire month (minimum: 5 games) -- and he has done it four times: 40.6 in February 2003, 43.4 in January 2006, and 41.6 in April 2006.
