HOUSTON (AP) -- Cedric Smith scored 17 of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's 38 bench points in the Islanders' 80-72 win over Southeastern Louisiana in the first round of the Southland Conference men's tournament Thursday night. After leading 45-31 at halftime, the top-seeded Islanders had to withstand a second-half challenge by the Lions, who began the second half with a 31-19 run to get within two points at 64-62.
