GOLD COAST, Australia -- Third-seeded Ana Ivanovic of Serbia beat Roberta Vinci 7-6 (5), 6-1 Monday to open the New Year at the Australian Women's Hardcourt Championships. Australian veteran Nicole Pratt beat Russia's Elena Bovina 6-2, 6-7 (4), 6-1 and will face top-seeded Martina Hingis in the second round.
