How anyone could witness the events of the last two weeks and say that college football needs a playoff is beyond me. I was in Columbus for the Michigan-Ohio State game and in L.A. for the Notre Dame-USC game, and all I could think about was how the stakes for each of those showdowns would have been greatly diminished with a playoff. Would you rather have teams battling for spots in the BCS Championship Game or teams battling for playoff seeding? While I would favor going to a plus-one system ...
