Special to ESPN Insider Friday, September 22, 2006 A daily glance inside the numbers from the world of sports: MLB • Chris Young pitched 8 1/3 innings of no-hit ball Friday before Joe Randa hit a pinch-home run in the Padres' 6-2 victory over the Pirates. No Padres pitcher has thrown a no-hitter, and Young was only the second in the past 30 years to reach the ninth inning without allowing a hit. The other was Andy Ashby in 1997.
