SAN DIEGO (AP) -- Brian Giles preserved a tie with his arm and won the game with his bat. Giles threw out a runner at the plate in the ninth inning and singled home the winning run in the 10th to give the San Diego Padres a 2-1 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Friday night. "In that situation you just want to get a pitch that you can handle," said Giles.
