A new era for the trade game

The NHL trade deadline, which hits on Thursday at 3 p.m. ET, has a little different look in the salary cap era. Big market clubs can no longer just add players to their rosters without regard for finance. Now, those clubs have to keep a close eye on their payroll. Also, per the new CBA, the deadline comes a little sooner this season. Now, the deadline is 40 days from the final day of the regular season.
