Orioles sign OF Matos, avoid arbitration

BALTIMORE -- The Baltimore Orioles on Friday agreed to a one-year contract with outfielder Luis Matos, avoiding arbitration. No financial terms were disclosed but Matos made $1.025 million in 2005. Matos hit .280 with four homers and 23 RBI in 121 games last season. However, with the acquisition of center fielder Corey Patterson this offseason, Matos may be relegated to a fourth outfielder role in 2006.
