I was 10 years old and getting ready for my second year of CYO basketball in Indianapolis, Indiana. My boy, Clay, and I went to the mall with our moms to get some fresh kicks for the season. We both wanted some Docs (the Converse worn by Dr. J), but we would've settled for these relatively new kicks we'd been seeing around the way called Nikes.
