Lineman's comeback attempt cut short

The New England Patriots will be forced to defend their consecutive Super Bowl titles without the player most experts regard as their best offensive lineman. Light Starting left tackle Matt Light, who has not played since suffering a broken right fibula at Pittsburgh in a Sept. 25 game, was placed on injured reserve Wednesday, a move that officially ended his comeback attempt and his season.
