Thrashers star on probation but will play in Kazan

MOSCOW -- Dany Heatley signed with a Russian hockey team Thursday, less than a week after pleading guilty to charges in the 2003 death of Atlanta Thrashers teammate Dan Snyder and being sentenced to three years' probation. Heatley, MVP of the 2003 NHL All-Star Game, will join Atlanta's Ilya Kovalchuk with AK Bars Kazan, which has signed several NHL players during the league's lockout.
