Stars Traverse way to more backline depth

Dallas Stars: The Stars signed defenseman Patrick Traverse to a one-year deal Thursday. Traverse appeared in 80 games with Hamilton of the American Hockey League last season, with five goals and 21 assists. The 6-foot-4, 218-pound defenseman has appeared in 278 career NHL games with the Ottawa Senators (1995-2000), the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim (2000), the Boston Bruins (2000-2001) and the Montreal Canadiens (2001-2003).
