ESPN.com Thursday, March 25, 2004 Oklahoma assistant Jimmy Tubbs will be announced as the new head coach at SMU on Friday, multiple sources close to the search told ESPN.com. SMU has scheduled an 11:30 a.m. ET news conference Friday. Tubbs, 55, replaces Mike Dement, who was fired after nine seasons. Upon Dement's termination, SMU had five regular-season games and the WAC tournament left on its schedule. Tubbs, 55, was an assistant to Oklahoma coach Kelvin Sampson for two seasons.
