All but lost in the three-car photo finish at Chicagoland Speedway two weeks ago was the impressive debut of a young man who figures to become a fixture in the Indy Racing League. Ed Carpenter's finishing spot (13th) didn't come close to reflecting how strong he ran for much of the race, as he stormed from 16th to fifth before falling back in the pack following his pit stops.
