NFL Insider Wednesday, June 4, 2003 Despite winning only three starts in 17 tries and having a career passer rating of 52.8, when Akili Smith was released by the Cincinnati Bengals there were teams that picked up the phone to let the former Oregon Duck that he was still wanted somewhere. The Cincinnati Enquirer reports four teams have contacted Smith's agent, Kennard McGuire to express interest in bringing in the fifth-year quarterback for a tryout.
