Who's Hot Franklyn German, Tigers: The big issues with German have been two-fold. First, he needed the opportunity to close for woeful Detroit, and he hadn't gotten it. Matt Anderson began the year as the closer, which is meaningless when there's nothing to close. Then a guy named Chris Spurling got a save. Steve Sparks did, too. But no German. Maybe that's because of the second issue, which is walks. German has 22 of them in 21.2 innings. Alas, Detroit had save opps two of the last three games ...
