Auburn proved the right tonic for a floundering Syracuse team last season. After opening 2001 by losing two of their first three games, the Orangemen blasted the Tigers in the Carrier Dome, 31-14. The victory invigorated Syracuse, which went on to win eight games in a row and 10 of its last 11 on the way to the school's 15th consecutive winning season.
