Silent Sunday: No NFL for first time in history

Sept. 26, 1982 Call it Silent Sunday. Today, for the first time in the 63-year history of the National Football League, no games are played. It's Day 6 of the players' strike and no progress is reported. The 12 stadiums where games had been scheduled are deserted, 15,000 people are out of work, restaurant and hotel businesses take a sacking, 800,000 fans stay home and losses are estimated at more than $70 million.
