NBA Players Love Bowling

I'm pretty careful not to use TrueHoop for PR. I feel very thankful that there are readers who entrust me to direct their attention to things that are of genuine interest.

I'm also mindful that a lot of people expect me to mindlessly promote ESPN things, because that's where I work.

So I don't do a lot of "be sure to tune in this Sunday for ..."

But I'm making an exception, because this comes with all kinds of great bowling quotes.

Sunday, October 19, at 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT ESPN TV will air the bowling tournament from Chris Paul's third annual Winston-Salem Weekend.

Here I present large, graceful athletes commenting on a sport that is often dominated by people who are actually smoking cigarettes as they compete:

  • Chris Paul on bowling: "This gives me an opportunity to show a part of me and it also gives an opportunity for the world to see how big of a sport bowling is. I think a lot of times people see bowling as just something fun that you can go do on Friday night, Saturday night or something like that. But bowling is a competitive sport and something that I'm very, very involved in, and I love it."
  • LeBron James on Chris Paul: "He bowls for real, he has his own bowling ball and everything.
  • Kevin Durant on bowling: "It's my second love after basketball."
  • Rudy Gay on bowling: "I'm actually a pro bowler, I just don't have time to compete."
  • Rudy Gay on Chris Paul as a bowler: "He's an amateur, I'm a pro."

Oklahoma City Thunder, Cleveland Cavaliers, New Orleans Hornets
