Dan Steinberg of the D.C. Sports Bog on an interview Caron Butler did with a German newspaper:
Sadly, my high school German classes are proving insufficient for me to translate in full this Q&A Caron Butler did with Bild, the revealing German paper. ... But fortunately, my memory, some deduction skills, and our friend Babelfish allowed me to have a pretty good idea of what was going on in this passage:
BILD: Welche Deutschen kennen Sie außer Dirk Nowitzki? (Which Germans do you know besides Dirk Nowitzki?)
Butler (lacht): Ist David Hasselhoff Deutscher? Den mögen Sie bei Euch, habe ich gehört. (Is David Hasselhoff German? I heard that you all like him.)
BILD: Der ist Amerikaner... (He's an American....)
Butler: Ok, dann nur Dirk. (Ok, then only Dirk.)
He was laughing, so I'll assume this was just said for the benefit of the Berlin Athletik Bog. Because, duh, you'd think Caron has at least heard of Chris Kaman.
