Quirks in the Machine

Sasha Vujacic is out for at least a week with an ankle injury that sounds serious, but apparently isn't. Mike Trudell of the Lakers Blog writes:

Lakers guard Sasha Vujacic will be shut down from basketball activities for 10-to-14 days due to a small avulsion fracture in his ankle.

According to The Mayo Clinic, an avulsion fracture "occurs when a ligament or tendon attached to a bone pulls away a piece (fragment) of the bone."

No, this isn't earth shattering. He's a supporting player, it's a minor injury, and this is pre-season. But I really wanted to use that headline.

CORRECTION: The story on Lakers Blog has been changed, because apparently the Mayo Clinic description of what happened is more extreme than what happened to The Machine.

Los Angeles Lakers, Sasha Vujacic
