Chad Ford: Sonics and Clippers Swapping Picks

The Clippers and Sonics have agreed to swap picks as long as the Wolves take O.J. Mayo at No. 3. If Mayo isn't drafted at 3, the deal is off according to two sources close to the information.

This is one weird deal. I guess the implication is that the Clippers will not get a shot at Mayo. The Sonics have the fourth pick, and the Clippers have the seventh.

Having just written that O.J. Mayo post, it's very strange to see his name driving a reported trade high in the draft. This whole show starts in a few hours, and it's safe to say that things are still unsettled high in the draft. Should be a fun show tonight.

Also, the story is that the Sonics would do this in exchange for the Clippers' first-round pick next year. Which would, I think, give Sam Presti's team something like 987 high picks in upcoming drafts.
