Auerbach is aghast that coaches at all levels actually teach this.
I remember my eighth grade coach making us drill "taking the charge" which involved shooting like eight feet across the floor on your butt every time someone touched your chest. That particular kind of flopping, however, I think has become part of the game, and is not what makes people so upset. It's the more exotic (imported!) flops that have inspired the crackdown.
Rudolph, for his part, advocates simply calling a blocking foul on the flopper in that case, which is good when you know he's flopping, but not so good other times.
