  • In case you haven't already, you should see these highlights from the Suns' huge, high-scoring comeback against the Nuggets. (Those two meet again tonight. I love the NBA.) That, combined the Mavericks' victory against the Clippers, combined to improve the Mavericks' chances of making the playoffs. Hollinger's machine now has the Warriors most likely to be left out.
  • The eyes in the back of Shaquille O'Neal's head need glasses. When O'Neal stops kissing the Suns' training staff, I'm sure they'll get right on it.
  • Emeka Okafor gets a nice dunk, exposing the Raptor's defense. And the commentator says it's "just like going through Canadian ketchup." It's one of those super random things that I'm sure his broadcast partners wished would pass without further comment. But they proceed to talk about Canadian ketchup for minutes, and it's hilarious.
  • Hillary Clinton is the Spurs, Barack Obama is the Hornets, and New Orleans has a lead heading into the fourth quarter of Game 7. (One word of bad language.)
  • Talk of a privately funded arena to keep the Sonics in Seattle. Save Our Sonics is hopeful, but wary.
  • This is, apparently, an April Fool's joke. Warriors PR assures me that Marco Belinelli is not, in fact, headed back to Europe.
  • Sactown Royalty: "Kevin Martin just completed the best month of his pro career, with 26.3 points per game on .634 true shooting, 4 rebounds and 2 assists."
  • Brian McCormick points out that Memphis could have a problem. If they end up with the first or second pick, local college hero Derrick Rose would put butts in the seats, at a franchise that could really use some butts in seats. They would almost have to take him. But the Grizzlies already have too many young point guards, with Mike Conley, Jr., Kyle Lowry, and Javaris Crittenton. McCormick proposes that, in that scenario, the Grizzlies should trade Conley to reunite him with lifelong friend and teammate Greg Oden in Portland.
  • Golden State fans are perhaps a little quieter, now that they have high expectations.
  • If you're an NBA player, and someone is seeking your signature on a form permitting the use of your likeness in a "bobble pop," check this out before proceeding.
  • Pretending that every LeBron James magazine cover has profound racial overtones.
  • Wondering if there is a purpose to the business entity known as the "New York Knicks."
  • Some Pistons players came to Flip Saunders with ideas about how to defend LeBron James, and they worked pretty well. I'm thinking one day we'll see Head Coach, Tayshaun Prince.
  • The MVP conversation is so crowded, that here's a rare case of someone lobbying for a player to be, not MVP, but in the "others receiving votes" category.
  • You know how Deron Williams has been kryptonite to Chris Paul? Somehow the Minnesota Timberwolves are similarly kryptonite to the Utah Jazz.
  • Channing Frye on the pros and cons of being really tall: "Even though small cars are cool I can't fit comfortably in any of them. I try and save the earth by conserving gas but I can't fit in a Subaru or Honda, so I ride in a really simple Tahoe. I try to do my part."
  • Broadcasters often say that long shots lead to long rebounds, which implies three-pointers are the most likely shots to become offensive rebounds. However, here's a nice chart and some evidence that really short shots are likely to become offensive rebounds, too. Apparently this is not new in the stat community but it's new to me. And it makes some sense: if a guy takes a shot in the paint, you know the offensive team has at least one guy in the paint, you know?
  • Kareem Abdul-Jabbar loves UCLA, but he loves Western Kentucky almost as much.
