Bullets are a little shorter today. Why, you ask? My laptop battery is about to dying quickly, and I'm on a bus! Long story ...
- Here's an article about the mean and nasty Washington Wizards. Here's an article about the goofy, playful Wizards that cite Gandhi.
- Now Isiah Thomas's time with the Knicks makes a lot more sense.
- TrueHoop reader Michael responds by email to my post about the Hack-a-Shaq technique: "While I agree that something doesn't seem right about a team benefitting from fouling (essentially being caught breaking the rules), I don't think there is actually anything wrong with it either. Or at least not wrong enough to change the rules. The rules surrounding fouling are designed to benefit the team that was fouled and they do, except in cases where the team being fouled has such poor skills that they can't even accept a gift that's being given to them. The correct analogy would be that a person is given a birthday present that is wrapped in the normal fashion, but the guy is too incompetent to unwrap the gift. That guy is Shaq. 90% of the league would make their opponents pay for a strategy as (on it's face) silly as Hack-a-Shaq. Maybe had he figured out a way to improve his skills over the last 15 years, this wouldn't be an issue. Also, that foul wasn't completely ridiculous. It forced PHX to take Shaq out of the game! Given that he actually had a pretty good game, getting him on the bench wasn't a bad idea. Plus, it moved the Spurs closer to the bonus for when Shaq does return to the game. Had they just fouled while trying to steal the ball though, their Hack-a-Shaq strategy would not have been clear and Shaq would have remained on the floor."
- Who on your roster matters?
- Kyle Korver, known for making baskets. Know what "Korver" means? Kyle did some research, and says it means "basket maker." Really. Amazing, huh?
- Chris Paul has some people re-thinking their MVP votes. Although, the Nuggets will tell you that today is not the day to denigrate the work of Kobe Bryant, that's for sure.
