Jason Calacanis is a bigwig of blogging and new media, and one of those much admired young tech entrepreneur types.
A few minutes into this video, he attributes some of his success to imagining that he is running an NBA team.
Unfortunately, he happens to pick the Knicks.
His point is really about the need to have workers who are tremendously passionate about achieving the team's goals. That's especially important when your team has a very limited number of players, like an NBA team or a tech startup.
The irony is that the Knicks are led by a player who dreams of fleeing the country. Attending a Knick game, of late, is one of the most passionless experiences in sports.
Calacanis makes up for it, a little, though, by rooting himself in the John Starks/Anthony Mason era.
Nevertheless, I think just about everyone looks forward to a time when it is no longer comical to associate the Knicks with success.
And, for the record, I suspect Calacanis's advice on this point is very good.
