You know how the D-League tests ideas for the NBA? They should test this suggestion from TrueHoop reader Nathan: get all your All-Stars on the court. Then let the two top vote-getters be captains and pick teams.
We lose some East/West identity, but we gain a ton of intrigue. If they had it in the NBA, this year it would have been Kobe Bryant and Kevin Garnett, flipping a coin to see who got to draft LeBron James first. Then somebody gets Dwight Howard, Steve Nash, and right on down the line. It would be the tweak that launched a thousand grudge matches.
UPDATE: Turns out about 1,300 other people -- it seems Bethlehem Shoals was first of the most recent round, but there have been others -- have already discussed this idea.
