  • James Gandolfini to play Sonny Vaccaro in a new HBO show (produced by many, including Baron Davis) called "ABCD Camp." I'd like to know more about that little project. Sounds fascinating.
  • ESPN's Chris Sheridan on who he thinks will be cut to make a 12-man Team USA: "It's too soon to say with any certainty, of course, but it is safe to assume that Redick will be among them. Battier also is expected to be dropped from the active roster to allow him to address a family concern, which gets us down to 15. Durant is going to have to be mighty impressive to stay out of the final three cuts, but his 22-point performance in the team's public scrimmage last month has given him at least a fighting chance. Another cut likely will come from the foursome of point guards, with Kidd a lock to make the squad and Billups likely to make it so Colangelo and coach Mike Krzyzewski can judge how he performs under international rules. So it may come down to a battle between Williams and Hinrich, with Hinrich likely entering camp with a slight edge after having piloted the team at the World Championship in Japan last summer. Assuming Durant is a cut, the last cut likely will come from among the trio of Prince, Redd and Miller."
  • Ime Udoka looks like he's on his way to becoming a Spur. He's almost like a Raja Bell story -- from out of nowhere to playing deep in the playoffs through a most unusual route and in a very short amount of time.
  • Under the umbrella of the Players' Association, Stanford experts teach NBA players about business. Great stuff. Probably the kind of stuff these players should start learning in high school. Mike James, Cuttino Mobley, Bruce Bowen, Jarron Collins, Matt Carroll, Devean George, Wayne Simien, Brevin Knight, Mark Madsen, Malik Rose and Aaron Williams were among those in attendance.
  • Europe, meet NBA marketing hype, and don't let your hair get messed up in the hurricane of corporate synergies.
  • Kwame Brown '08!
  • Dance, rookie!
  • Shocking and terrible: Convincing evidence of players arranging a particular outcome (to assure the advancement of both teams playing at the expense of the host Spanish team) in the European Championships U-19 tournament. Also, an update on phenom Ricky Rubio.
  • If I were an NBA player who partied a lot, and was worried what that might do to my image in the eyes of whitebread fans, I'd print out this article and carry it around in my pocket, ready to show it to anyone who said athletes were in a state of moral decline. The good old days weren't so pristine, you know?
  • Magic Johnson is holding a fundraiser for Hillary Clinton.
  • A fan's guide to Randolph Morris
  • Hard to be a good dad when you're an NBA player. Steve Blake and Scot Pollard remark in a Jeff Barker Baltimore Sun article: "Keeping a family together is no easy task given that NBA training camps open in early October and the regular season stretches through mid-April. Blake frets that he's hearing some of his son's first words on the phone, instead of in person. ... Veteran NBA center Scot Pollard, 32, who knows Blake because they have the same financial adviser, says there's no easy advice to keeping a family together. Pollard is married with daughters ages 8 and 4 and a third child on the way. 'It's a lifestyle that doesn't really work with marriage because of scheduling,' Pollard said. 'Whenever I'm in town, I try to make sure I'm the one that puts them to bed -- I have songs I sing to them.' But his girls don't like it when he is away. 'I think it's starting to take a toll on them,' Pollard said."
  • Further proof that having the media camped on your lawn can make you insane.
  • Way past their prime shooting guards are finding welcoming teams in places like Miami, Houston, and Boston. Why not Cleveland
  • If Elvis had not died when he did, there would be no Grizzlies in Memphis. That's what it says here, at least.
  • Mark Cuban forgot how to write. And he forgot how to talk in public.
