Failed Plot: Four Shoes and a Jersey for an All-Star Appearance

January 5, 2007 1:22 PM

Liz Robbins put her press pass to good use with a fresh piece of Gilbertology:

In the 2003-4 season, his first in Washington, Arenas tried to vote himself into the All-Star Game, trading two pairs of shoes and a jersey in exchange for a box of ballots at a local athletic shoe store.
What I'm unclear on, however, is whether Arenas then filled out the ballots himself, or outsourced it. Because filling out, let's say, 2,000 All-Star ballots, that's tough. You almost deserve an All-Star spot just for that.

I'm also curious who else he voted for on those ballots.
