New Tennessee coach Lane Kiffin has offered the Vols' strength and conditioning job to South Carolina's Mark Smith, and Smith has told people he plans to accept.

Smith, who's in his fourth season at South Carolina, would be the second member of the Gamecocks' staff to join Kiffin at Tennessee. David Reaves left the South Carolina staff soon after Kiffin was hired at Tennessee. Reaves, who coached quarterbacks and was the Gamecocks' recruiting coordinator, is Kiffin's brother-in-law.

Smith has a long association with South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier. Smith was with Spurrier in 2003 when the Head Ball Coach was coaching the Washington Redskins and was Florida's strength coach from 1998-2001.
