BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The Tuscaloosa News reported that Tennessee coach Phillip Fulmer was subpoenaed this morning at the SEC Media Days while doing radio interviews, and there were copies of the subpoena floating around among media members.
However, Fulmer told several media members that he wasn't served.
"A couple of guys have asked me about that, and I haven't seen anything like that," said Fulmer, who has yet to officially address the media this morning. "We spent ... what was it three or four years ago ... putting up with all that B.S. that had nothing to do with football and the Southeastern Conference. Darned if I'm going to start it again if I don't have to, so somebody's just screwing around."
Attorneys from the Blankenship, Harrelson & Wollitz law firm have stated that Fulmer was indeed served by a processor.
Fulmer skipped the SEC Media Days in 2004 after attorneys in Alabama threatened to subpoena him and have him answer questions under oath about his role in the investigation of Alabama that landed the Crimson Tide on probation.
