Georgia's schedule too tough to tame?

One of the chief reasons I don't like Georgia to win the SEC championship this season is the Bulldogs' schedule. It's brutal and clearly the toughest in the league. Here's how I'd rank all 12 teams' schedules this season from toughest to easiest:

1. Georgia: Geez, where do you start? The South Carolina-Arizona State road swing is bad, but the Bulldogs don't play an SEC game at home after Oct. 18.

2. Alabama: The Crimson Tide will face four of the Top 10 teams in the Associated Press preseason poll, including No. 9 Clemson to open the season.

3. Arkansas: How's this for a four-game stretch? At Texas, Alabama and Florida at home and then at Auburn. We won't even mention the stretch to end the season.

4. South Carolina: If only the Gamecocks could figure out that dreaded close to the season. They end with LSU, Tennessee, Arkansas, Florida and Clemson, the last two on the road.

5. Tennessee: As UCLA players continue to go down, the opener looks less and less formidable. But the Vols' first three SEC games are against Florida, Auburn and Georgia, the last two on the road.

6. LSU: The defending national champs are the only Western Division team that has to play both Florida and Georgia this season. But then you look at the non-conference slate and don't feel too sorry for the Tigers.

7. Auburn: The best news for Auburn is that the LSU game is at home, and the home team has won eight straight. But there's never anything fun about a late October trip to West Virginia.

8. Ole Miss: Any time you play at Florida and at LSU in the same season, it's anything but a party. The Rebels also travel to No. 23-ranked Wake Forest the second week of the season.

9. Florida: The Gators' two non-conference rivals (Florida State and Miami) are both down this season, and their only tough game outside the state of Florida is at Tennessee on Sept. 20.

10. Vanderbilt: The good news for Vanderbilt is that it gets Auburn, Florida and Tennessee at home, but back-to-back road games in October against Mississippi State and Georgia won't be easy.

11. Mississippi State: The Bulldogs are thrilled to have West Virginia off the schedule, although their opener is a bit dicey. They play at Louisiana Tech. Talk about nothing to win and everything to lose.

12. Kentucky: The Wildcats face a critical game right out of the chute when they travel to Louisville. A bad loss there could fester. They avoid both Auburn and LSU in the West this season.
