GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida coach Urban Meyer conceded that he's a tad nervous about Percy Harvin's recovery from heel surgery hitting a roadblock these last few days.
But the only date Florida quarterback Tim Tebow is worried about is Aug. 30 when the Gators open the season against Hawaii.
"He's taking it slow and being smart about it," Tebow said. "He doesn't have to go out there and practice today or tomorrow and be Percy. He has to be Percy when we play Hawaii. We know he's going to do that. There's no reason to push him back. He'll be ready to go."
And while Tebow may be the reigning Heisman Trophy winner, he wouldn't be surprised to see Harvin win it this season.
"He's probably the most explosive player in college football," Tebow said. "He's probably one of the most explosive players in football, period. There are not many people like him.
"You put him in the same breath as Reggie Bush."
Senior receiver Louis Murphy said Harvin, who's bulked up to 205 pounds, would be "scary good" if he weren't plagued by so many injuries.
"He's scary good when he's 75 percent," Murphy said. "When he comes back, he's going to be something to see."
Murphy said the key to Harvin's explosiveness and playmaking ability is his first step.
"Every day, there's something that amazes me about Percy," Murphy said.
Harvin has done very little in practice to this point and wasn't available for interviews Friday at media day.
