Shock level here... about 0.0027. And that's based on someone voting California No. 1 -- probably just for kicks.

  1. USC (38 first-place votes)...389
  2. Arizona State...330
  3. Oregon...295
  4. California (1)...274
  5. UCLA... 204
  6. Oregon State...192
  7. Arizona...185
  8. Washington... 139
  9. Stanford...76
  10. Washington State...61

This is the sixth consecutive year USC has topped the poll. The previous five times the Trojans made reporters look like geniuses.

Overall, the media poll has picked the correct champ in 25 of the previous 47 polls, including the last eight years in a row. (We've gotten a lot smarter since Pete Carroll arrived).

USC is the first program to top the poll six consecutive times -- at least since the Trojans had an 18-year run atop the poll from 1965-'82.

Pac-10 general, Arizona Wildcats, Arizona State Sun Devils, California Bears, Oregon Ducks, Oregon State Beavers, Stanford Cardinal, UCLA Bruins, USC Trojans, Washington Huskies, Washington State Cougars, media poll
